Eastwood Outdoors
Eastwood is a great place to take a walk and enjoy the outdoors!
Eastwood is a beautiful neighborhood. Many residential trees are stately and the Dixon Branch Greenbelt trails connect us to wild nature. A playground and picnic tables are set in the lovely Dixon Branch Greenbelt Park. We are part of a popular bike path system. The neighborhood is just blocks from White Rock Lake, the jewel at the center of Dallas. Discover more and get involved with the outdoors of Eastwood:
Poison Ivy
Please be careful in the greenbelt. Poison ivy occurs naturally along the creeks and in the woods and meadows. The Greenbelt Guild does what it can to keep the trails clear, but it grows back quickly. It’s best to wear closed-toe shoes when in the greenbelt and wipe down your dog after walking if it ventures off the path.
The most up-to-date book on this is Itchy Business: How to Treat the Poison Ivy and Poison Oak Rash, Prevent Exposure and Eradicate the Plant by Eastwood’s own Amy Martin. Learn how to treat the rash according to the stage it is in using mineral and herbal products, rather than remedies that can lengthen the rash and cause damage to your skin.
