Upgrade To Playground Starts April 29
Exciting news! Upgrades to the playground at Dixon Branch Greenbelt Park will begin on April 29 Monday.
Under the guidance of ENA playground chair Erik Ramirez, with assist from Michael Parkey, the city is removing the climbing ball and adding a slide and other play items for the under-6 set. The playground pit mulch will also get a freshen up. A new dog-watering station, too!
The rock wall and ball is being replaced by a slide, spinning bowl (ages 5-12) and a spring daisy with 4 seats (ages 2 to 5).T he only equipment the park previously had for ages 2-5 was 2 swings.
The new pieces will help round out the accommodations for a wide age range of children.
Expect to see ongoing equipment removal and installation, water line installation, and concrete form/pour to begin soon.
While the playground is a mess, we recommend Lochwood Park playground at Lippitt and Lochwood, or the playground at Lake Highlands Park near Buckner.
The city expects to complete on May 15 Wednesday—before our big July 4th event.
