Eastwood gathered on Thursday, November 18th at Playground Park (Lippitt and Sinclair), instead of our usual indoor location, for our fall meeting. Our new social chair, Lauren Yates, suggested we combine it with a family movie night and what a grand idea it was!

Over 40 people laid out picnic blankets and bundled up on a chilly night! We enjoyed a generous donation of delicious tiny bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes (thanks to the manager Lauren!) and home-baked cookies from Karen Babb. Hot chocolate from White Rock Coffee kept everyone warm.

So heartwarming to see the community come together! Especially at Playground Park, whose creation was a labor of love—plus lots of labor!—by ENA and Dallas Parks & Recreation. (Playground Committee chair Cori Robarge seeks members who like to take the playground to the next level with more for those under the age of 5.)

Outgoing present John Walls offered a board-selected slate of candidates and opened nominations from the floor. The following officers were voted in by attendees:

  • President — Scooter Smith
  • Vice-president — David Cossum
  • Secretary — Terri Hebert
  • Treasurer — Karen Babb

Scooter has been doing our website and newsletter for over 15 years. With him becoming president, he needs someone else to step in and generally modernize our communications for this social media and texting era. Contact him here.

Then we settled in for the movie Toy Story projected on a marvelous inflatable screen provided by Brian Cade. It looked amazingly good! We had so much fun, we’ll be doing it again in the spring, just for fun.
